Cosmin Bumbutz's photo exhibition entitled ?Refugees. Portraits of Courage? will be hosted during 20 June - 3 July 2005 by Carturesti Bookshop in Bucharest, 13 Pictor Verona Street. The opening of the exhibition will take place on June 20, at 5 p.m.
The exhibition is organised by the Romanian National Council for Refugees (CNRR) with the kind support of the Representation in Romania of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and is part of a wider series of events dedicated to World Refugee Day, 20 June. Cultural portal LiterNet is partner of the event, hosting the exhibition online at www.liternet.ro.
This year, World Refugee Day is centered around COURAGE as the main theme. UNHCR and its partner organisations thus salute and pay tribute to the courage of the refugees who overcome obstacles and incredible challenges. Proving an undefeatable spirit, although alienated from their countries of origin, the world?s refugees rebuild their lives and contribute to the development of the societies of their countries of asylum.
The exhibition displays twenty portraits in black and white of refugees from Armenia, Congo, Iraq, Somalia, Serbia, Cameroon, DR Congo, Iran, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Turkey.
During 4 through 17 July, the exhibition will be hosted by the Bucharest UN House, 48A Primaverii Blvd.
